The St. Louis Cardinals simply refuse to lose right now. They have gone 9-1 in their last 10 games overall to build their lead in the NL Central. Washington, meanwhile, continues to slide and is clearly feeling the pressure of trying to make the playoffs. The Nationals are now 6.5 games behind the Mets in the NL East with little to no chance of winning it.

St. Louis should be a bigger home favorite tonight with the way it's been playing and with the better starter on the mound. Michael Wacha is 15-4 with a 2.69 ERA in 25 starts, 6-2 with a 2.43 ERA in 11 home starts, and 1-0 with a 0.95 ERA in his last three outings. Wacha is 2-1 with a 0.79 ERA in three career starts against Washington.

Max Scherzer has simply lost it. He has gone 1-3 with a 5.63 ERA over his last seven starts when these games have mattered most. He has never beaten the Cardinals, going 0-2 with a 3.71 ERA in three career starts against them. I don't expect him to turn it around tonight, either.

St. Louis is 24-4 (+17.0 Units) against the money line in home games in September games over the last three seasons.
