PLAY ON:  UNDER 49 1/2 Baltimore/Denver (NFL)

The Denver Broncos have to battle the Baltimore Ravens to open up the season. The Broncos will be under new leadership with head coach Gary Kubiak. Kubiak has been known to emphasize the running game and that will lead to the Broncos not putting up quite as many points. The Broncos should boast one of the top defenses in the AFC this season as well. I'm not one to doubt Peyton Manning but let's face it he can't quite air it out like he once could. The Ravens will be strong on defense in their own right behind the likes of Suggs and Dumervil. The Ravens offensive line isn't healthy which could make things tough for Ravens' quarterback Joe Flacco. You can expect a low scoring affair in this game. Take the UNDER!

I'm recommending a play on the St. Louis Rams on Sunday.  The dog has been the way to go in this series of late and I expect more of the same in this one.  Changes for both teams since last they met.  Seattle's secondary will be tested, losing Byron Maxwell to the Eagles and with Kam Chancellor sitting out while re-working his contract.  There's also the hangover effect after blowing a 10-point lead in the Super Bowl, which included the infamous blown call and play at the New England 1-yard line.  Super Bowl runner-ups have not fared well of late when laying a point-spread in a range that includes this one.  The Rams and Eagles swapped QBs and I believe it's a good deal for both teams.  St. Louis will give the keys of their offense to Nick Foles, who is just two seasons removed from tossing 27 TDs and 2 INTs.  His backfield is a little bruised, but I believe Benny Cunningham and Isaiah Pead will made the most of their opportunities.  And let's not forget Foles has won 13 of his last 16 NFL starts.  The Rams have covered three straight when hosting Seattle, winning two games outright, including last year's wild 28-26 victory.  I do not believe Seattle will run away with this one and I'm recommending a play on the Rams on Sunday.  Thanks & GL!  Scott Spreitzer.
