But, in all respects the Wizards have been riddled by injuries this season…Porter and Gooden now back in the lineup, and Dudley scored 15 against Boston. Still, there is more issues with Beal leaving (vs. Celtics) with a concussion, status questionable for Toronto. Washington is 1-3 SU last four vs. Boston, Miami, Portland and Boston again. We note, the Wizards do NOT match-up well with the Celtics. Here the lines makers quickly adjusted the total down (205) after posting 214 vs. Boston. Granted LOW has been the series call of late, 3-0 UNDER with numbers 203, 203-1/2 and 201-1/2. In their last 5 meetings Toronto (22-22 O/U) has scored under 100 points, and possess one of the best defenses in NBA holding units to 96.8 (#4) points per game. Since 12/30/15 the Wizards are 9-5 UNDER. But, the Wizards are #24 in points allowed 104.1 coming in, that’s a depreciation of almost 7 points over 2014. One of Washington’s issues defensively is stopping scoring, penetrating type guards…and here comes loaded Toronto. The Wizards have problems cutting off the passing lanes, while fouling these type guards. Which adds to the foul shooting percentages and open floor shots. Washington is 22-18 OVER this season. Here the Wizards will struggle to win as the Raptors are rolling 8-0 streak SU (7-1 ATS). In those games, the Raptors have played well offensively, averaging 105.3 points, while shooting 48.3% from the field carrying an 80% FT marker too. With DeRozan (23.2) and Lowry (20.7) creating havoc for the Wizards defense additional opportunities will be available for the remaining starters. Although I am supporting the Toronto side SU, would suggest they just maybe a little flat knowing the Washington issues, and have a revenge game on-deck with the Knicks. Technically, Washington is 5-0 OVER in back-to-back games and opposing Toronto shows 5-1 OVER versus winning (10-8) visiting road units. GO HIGH!

I'm recommending a play on the Georgetown Hoyas on Tuesday. The race in the Big East is flying under the radar with four teams tied for second and currently trailing 6th-ranked Villanova by 1 1/2 games in the standings.  Second place will be narrowed down tonight with Xavier taking on Providence and Creighton in DC to face Georgetown.  The Blue Jays won the first meeting, 79-66 in Omaha on January 5.  The game was closer than the final score would indicate with Georgetown leading by three points, more than midway through the second half and within six points with three minutes to go.  The Hoyas had no problem with Creighton's defensive work, making 47% of their FGA, including 11 of 24, 46% from behind the arc.  The difference in the game came at the stripe where Creighton outscored the Hoyas 21-3, afforded 25 FTA to just seven for Georgetown.  The Jays are 3-3 SU on the road this season with the wins coming against DePaul, St. John's, and Seton Hall, teams with a combined conference record of 4-17 SU.  This will be their toughest conference road game to date and we believe the Hoyas will be ready for revenge.  Georgetown can slam the door on the defensive end where they rank 18th in the nation in FG percentage allowed, holding the opposition to 38.7% shooting.  The Hoyas lost last time out to UConn, but they're on a 27-11 ATS run off a loss. Minnesota gets a quick pit stop at home against the Phoenix Suns Sunday, bookended between road games. The Timberwolves will be looking to make the most of this home spot after dropping back-to-back games on the road which extended their losing skid to nine games – going just 2-7 ATS in that span. However, we see added value with them as hosts Sunday, especially against the Suns. Phoenix is one of the few Western Conference opponents in a worse spot that Minnesota. While Duquesne wasn't picked to finish very high in the Atlantic Ten Conference, expectations are still pretty high in Pittsburgh. The Dukes had a rough season a year ago as they were 12-19 overall and as inexperienced as they were then, they are very experienced now. Four starters are back including three seniors, two of which have played in every game throughout their careers. They have opened 0-3 in the conference but two of those came on the road and all three have come against teams picked to finish in the top five. Now it is time for a big win over an overmatched opponent. St. Louis is 1-2 in the conference and after an upset win at home over George Washington, the Billikens were blown out against VCU in the next game. Vanderbilt lost a tough game on Saturday as it led throughout the first three-quarters of the game but relinquished a lead in the second half and was unable to make a comeback. The Commodores are off to a very disappointing start at 8-7, including 0-3 in the conference, as they are coming off a 21-14 season and have four starters back and were picked to finish 2nd in the SEC. While the season is far from over, Vanderbilt cannot afford to go the wrong way and they need a big win to get the confidence back and here comes that game. Auburn is 1-4 on the road with the lone victory coming at Coastal Carolina by just three points and it is coming off a 15-point loss at Missouri. The Tigers have been picked to finish 12th in the 14-team SEC so blowout losses are far from surprising. This is the perfect team to come to town for Vanderbilt as the Commodores have won 10 straight games in this series as well as seven straight at home. Boston is showing some great value here as a road dog against the Knicks. The Celtics have lost 3 straight and 5 of 6 overall, but it's not like they haven't been close in their losses. All 5 defeats came by 9-points or less and they gave away their last game at Memphis, getting outscored 33-22 in the 4th quarter of a 3-point loss. New York on the other hand has won 4 of 5 and covered all 5 during this stretch. 

All this adds up to the Knicks getting too much respect against a Celtics team they have struggled against. Boston won 100-91 at home back on 12/27 as a 8.5-point favorite. Their 4th straight win in the serious. Based off that line in the most recent matchup, the Celtics should be around a 5-point favorite here. 

Celtics are 30-13 ATS in their last 43 as a road dog, 9-1 ATS in their last 10 road games when they come in having lost 5 or 6 of their last 7 games, 13-1 ATS in their last 14 road games after allowing 100 or more points in 2 straight games and 13-3 ATS in their last 16 road games when playing only their 2nd games in 5 days. I am playing on the CHICAGO BULLS as my FREE PLAY.

 

I think the Bulls catch the Wizards in a great betting spot here on Monday and I think oddsmakers have made a mistake in not making the Bulls lay more points.

 

The Bulls are simply one of the hottest teams in the NBA right now with seven wins in their last nine games and they covered the spread in six of those contests. They rode a six-game winning streak into Atlanta last game when the Hawks took them down 120-105 but that was due in large part to a sluggish start to the game, which was likely the toll of the winning stretch.

 

I think we'll see a revitalized Chicago team on Monday back at home, especially with the expected return of forward Joakim Noah, who has been out with a shoulder injury. I think Noah will help the Bulls continue on their scoring surge, which has been the biggest reason for their recent hot play. Chicago is averaging 109.2 points over its past five games - an increase of seven points per game compared to their season average.

 

I won't be surprised to see a letdown from the Wizards here Monday, who earned their first win in four games on Saturday at Orlando. It was just the second win in seven games for the Wizards and I don't feel they have the horsepower to keep up with a hot Chicago squad. FREE PLAY

The Wizards began their recent homestand with a win over the Orlando Magic to open the New Year but then shot 34.1 percent from the floor in a loss to Miami and bounced back on the offensive end only to see the defense suffer in Wednesday’s 121-115 loss to Cleveland. The Raptors, Miami and Cleveland each rank in the top four in fewest points allowed per game, and Washington has lost to all three over its last four games - though two of the defeats are hard to comprehend in that context. The string began with a 94-91 loss at Toronto on Dec. 30 in which the Wizards made 35 shots to the Raptors' 28 but were done in by 32 points they gave up on free throws. The good news, however, is that Nene returned from a 19-game absence because of a strained left calf and Gary Neal was back after missing five with a strained right quadriceps. Kris Humphries sat out with a sore knee but should face the Raptors. Toronto hasn’t handled success well this season, as they’re just 0-8 ATS in the last eight following an ATS win. On the contrary, the host Wizards are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 following an ATS loss. The Raptors are just 2-5 ATS in their last seven with one day of rest and could have weary legs playing their fourth game in five days. I'm recommending a play on OKC minus the points on Friday night.  Tough spot for the Lakers. Los Angeles returns home after nearly coming all the way back from a huge deficit at Sacramento last night, trailing by 27 points at one point of the third quarter.  D'Angelo Russell nailed 11 of 16 shots, scoring 27 points.  But Russell suffered an ankle injury and is listed as questionable.  Even if he plays, it's reported he'll be less than 100% and with five players seeing 30 minutes or more last night, this shallow roster could be in trouble against OKC...again.  The Thunder average nearly 109 ppg and they're third in the league in FG percentage.  LAL ranks 30th in FG percentage allowed and have been absolutely owned by OKC in the last four meetings.  The Thunder beat the Lakers twice in December, winning by margins of 40 and 35 points.  OKC will look to make it five straight covers over L.A., while the Lakers enter on a 7-17 ATS slide against teams with a winning record. Free Pick on Purdue -

Michigan (12-3) and Purdue (13-2) come in with similar records, which might have you wanting to take to the points with the Wolverines, especially after seeing the Boilermakers lost at home to Iowa 63-70 as a 9-point favorite in their last game. I think the smart play here is to back Purdue on their home floor in a huge bounce back spot against a Michigan team that's no as good as their record would indicate. 

The thing to keep in mind with the Boilermakers loss to the Hawkeyes, is they actually had a 17-point lead at the half in that game. Purdue simply let their foot off the gas and it cost them a victory. They won't make the same mistake twice and Michigan hasn't exactly showed a lot against quality opponents. The Wolverines have lost by 16 to Xavier at home, 14 on a neutral site to Connecticut and 24 at SMU.

Making matters worse, Michigan could be without leading scorer Caris LeVert (17.6 ppg), who is questionable with a leg injury after missing their last game. Even if LeVert plays, I don't think it's going to be enough for the Wolverines to keep this game within the number listed here. 

Purdue is 12-4 ATS over the last 2 seasons when playing a team with a winning record at least 15 games into the season, 7-0 ATS in their last 7 against teams who hit 41% or more of their 3-point attempts and 6-0 ATS in their last 6 home games against teams who are shooting 48% or better from the field. Ben Simmons and the Tigers are coming off their most impressive win of the season, as they went on the road and defeated a good Vanderbilt team 90-82 as a 10-point underdog. Simmons was the difference maker in that victory, as he scored 36 points to go with 14 rebounds. I look for LSU to carry over that momentum at home against Kentucky. 

The Wildcats are still the class of the SEC, but this is not the same caliber a team as last year and they have struggled on the road this year. Kentucky lost their only other true road game 77-87 at UCLA and later lost 67-74 on a neutral court against Ohio State. The Wildcats have struggled in each of their last two trips to LSU. Last year they barely squeaked out a 71-69 win as a 10-point road favorite and the previous season they lost 82-87 as a 3.5-point favorite. 

It's not very often that Kentucky doesn't have the best player on the floor, but that's the case here tonight. I'll gladly take the points as some added insurance, as this figures to be a close game, but I really like LSU's chances of winning this game outright. The Tigers are 12-3 ATS in their last 15 when they come in having covered 2 of their last 3 and 13-4 ATS in their last 17 home games against strong defensive teams that are holding opponents to 42% or worse from the field. Kentucky on the other hand is just 4-12 ATS in their last 16 against teams who are shooting 45% or better from the field. Take LSU!
