Simmons and the Tigers are coming off their most impressive win of the season,
as they went on the road and defeated a good Vanderbilt team 90-82 as a 10-point
underdog. Simmons was the difference maker in that victory, as he scored 36
points to go with 14 rebounds. I look for LSU to carry over that momentum at
home against Kentucky.
The
Wildcats are still the class of the SEC, but this is not the same caliber a team
as last year and they have struggled on the road this year. Kentucky lost their
only other true road game 77-87 at UCLA and later lost 67-74 on a neutral court
against Ohio State. The Wildcats have struggled in each of their last two trips
to LSU. Last year they barely squeaked out a 71-69 win as a 10-point road
favorite and the previous season they lost 82-87 as a 3.5-point favorite.
It's
not very often that Kentucky doesn't have the best player on the floor, but
that's the case here tonight. I'll gladly take the points as some added
insurance, as this figures to be a close game, but I really like LSU's chances
of winning this game outright. The Tigers are 12-3 ATS in their last 15 when
they come in having covered 2 of their last 3 and 13-4 ATS in their last 17 home
games against strong defensive teams that are holding opponents to 42% or worse
from the field. Kentucky on the other hand is just 4-12 ATS in their last 16
against teams who are shooting 45% or better from the field. Take LSU!

here of late as they have gone 6-3 ATS in their last nine games overall while
consistently being undervalued. They are catching too many points again here

Home-court advantage has meant very little between these teams in

season.
