The spot certainly is right for Minnesota. The Timberwolves catch the Thunder traveling without rest after posing a huge 103-94 nationally televised home win against the Cavaliers.
 
Kevin Durant has been limited to 30 minutes a game since returning from a broken foot. He may play even less minutes in this game since it's a back-to-back situation for Oklahoma City.
 
The Thunder do not have a good track record versus bad teams going 1-7-1 ATS the past nine times on the road when facing a foe with a losing home mark.
 
The key question is are the decimated Timberwolves still good enough to keep this game close enough to cover? The Timberwolves are relying on a lot of youth because of Ricky Rubio, Nikola Pekovic and Kevin Martin all being out. Veteran point guard Mo Williams isn't likely to play either.
 
But the Timberwolves didn't have any of these players when they held the Trail Blazers to a season-low 38.8 percent shooting in a 90-82 home win this past Wednesday. So the Timberwolves are capable of winning outright by nearly double-digits against an elite opponent if that opponent comes in flat.
 
Up-and-down rookie Andrew Wiggins has been hot lately shooting 17-of-35 from the field during his last two games.
 
The Timberwolves have enjoyed good point spread success versus Oklahoma City, too, covering nine of the past 13 times.

Two 4-5 teams square off tonight and we will be backing the home team despite a rash of injuries that have hit the roster. The Blue Jackets are dealing with several players on the shelf and while that is certainly a cause for concern, we are catching incredible value because of it. When players go down, the others taking over are playing just as hard so while the talent in some cases may take a slight step down, the effort does not. The Blue Jackets have dropped three straight games but two of those were against the Kings and Ducks and the other was against red hot Ottawa. Toronto meanwhile is coming off a win at home against Buffalo which is far from impressive and it has followed up its last two wins with losses next time out. Goalie Jonathan Bernier is coming off a shutout but it isn't overly difficult to not allow a goal when you are only seeing 10 shots the entire game. Columbus hasn't exactly been peppering the goal but it is coming off a 38-shot performance last time out. The Maple Leafs are 3-10 in their last 13 games against teams with a losing record while the Blue Jackets are 41-18 in their last 59 games against teams with a losing record. They also fall into an excellent situation where we play against road teams against the money line that are coming off a divisional win by four goals or more while playing five or less games in 14 days. The Raptors are showing exceptional value as a mere 4.5-point favorite against the Hawks. Toronto went a strong 26-15 at home last year and are going to come into this season highly motivated last year's heartbreaking loss to the Nets in 7-games of the first round. What a lot of people don't realize with the Raptors is that this team didn't even start playing well until late in the year. Toronto was 6-games under .500 in early December and finished 14-games above .500 on their way to winning the Atlantic Division.
 
Unlike previous years when their best players would leave town, Toronto has brought back their nucleus from last year. They only lost John Salmons and Steve Novak, who were nothing more than rotational players. I believe they more than made up for it with the additions of Lou Williams and James Johnson.
 
Not to take anything away from the Hawks, who should push for a a playoff spot with the return of Al Horford, but they were far from impressive on the road last year. Atlanta went just 14-27 away from home. They got beat badly in both of their trips to Toronto, losing by 21 in the first meeting and 10 points the second time they visited the Air Canada Centre. Take the Raptors!
