The Pelicans have revenge for an embarrassing 99-88 home loss to the 76ers just 12 days ago and want desperately to salvage a win on this last leg of a three-game road trip. New Orleans is stepping way down in class after consecutive losses to the Spurs and Rockets during the first two games of its road trip.  New Orleans didn't have Jrue Holiday and Tyreke Evans in their earlier meeting with the 76ers. Now both are back. The Pelicans are a much better team when Holiday plays because it allows Tim Frazier to come off the bench while greatly improving the team's guard depth.  If the Pelicans are serious about being a Western Conference playoff contender they can't be losing to the 76ers. New Orleans has a history of faring well against Eastern Conference opponents covering six of the past seven times versus them.  The 76ers have promising big men Joel Embiid, Jahlil Okafor and Nerlens Noel. The Orlando Magic had a nice road trip recently in which they won four out of five games.  But that trip wore them down, and they lost 87-117 at home to the Boston Celtics on Wednesday.  I don't think they have fully recovered yet as this will still be their 6th game in 9 days.

The Charlotte Hornets have won five of their last seven and are clearly one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference this season.  They are fully healthy right now and are coming off an 87-77 home win over Detroit on Wednesday.  They just returned Marvin Williams to the lineup and will be a dangerous team at full strength moving forward.

The Hornets have had the Magic's number in recent meetings.  Indeed, the Hornets are 5-1 SU & 5-1 S ATS in the last six meetings in this series.  The last two were played in Charlotte with the Hornets winning by 14 and 8 points.  I think we'll see a similar result here as the Hornets cover this 6.5-point spread against the fatigued Magic.  Bet the Hornets Friday.

UMASS gets back star freshman point guard Dejon Jarreau who has been battling a knee problem but is listed as healthy with no limitations this week. Donte Clark also gives UMASS one of the better players in the country that you've never heard of, and they have better athletic talent and far better depth than Pacific. For Pacific, forward Ray Bowles is the only guy who could give UMASS problems, but other than him this is a tough matchup for the Tigers.

UMASS has beaten some tough teams recently including Temple and an underrated Harvard squad, while Pacific has not fared well at all against tougher opposition. Playing in a Tournament in front of their home fans with a potential matchup with Providence looming this weekend, we look for the Minutemen to cover the number here.

I have no problem laying a big number on the road with the Spurs against the Mavericks. San Antonio will be in a foul mood Wednesday, as they had their 9-game winning streak snapped at home against the Magic of all teams. The Spurs simply didn't have it, as they shot just 36.8% (28-76) from the field and a mere 25% (5-20) from 3-point range. They were also sloppy with the ball, committing a season-high 18 turnovers.
No Spurs player played more than 32 minutes, so we should see a full roster from SA tonight. Even if Popovich decides to rest some players, this Mavs team is one they can beat by double-digits with their reserves. Dallas comes in off a surprising 91-81 win over the Pelicans, but are still a mere 3-13 on the season, scoring just 91.5 ppg.
These two teams recently played in San Antonio on 11/21. The Spurs won 96-91, but if you remember that was the game where Popovich blasted his players for how poorly they played in the win. That's going to only add more fuel to the fire here for San Antonio, who comes in a perfect 10-0 SU and 8-1-1 ATS on the road this season.

The New Orleans Pelicans looked to have gotten it together with a four-game winning streak.  But then they went on the road and have lost back-to-back road games to the Blazers and Mavericks.  They return home here and the price is right to back them as only 5-point favorites.

The Pelicans are still 4-2 since Jrue Holiday returned to the lineup.  Their wins came by 12 points over Portland, by 5 over Charlotte, by 18 at Atlanta and by 21 over Minnesota.  They are now scoring 110.7 points per game at home, and their defense is playing much better of late, holding five of their last seven opponents to 101 points or fewer.

The Los Angeles Lakers are certainly improved this season, but they are in a tricky spot here.  They have played a gauntlet of a schedule with six straight games against the Spurs, Bulls, Thunder, Warriors (twice) and Hawks.  They are coming off a big home win over Atlanta, and now they're primed for a letdown spot here.

Plus, the Lakers are without arguably their best player in D'Angelo Russell, and fellow starter Julius Randle is questionable with a hip injury.  And the Pelicans are certainly going to be out for revenge from a 99-126 loss to the Lakers in their first meeting this season.

The Lakers are 12-23 ATS after scoring 105 points or more over the last two seasons.  Los Angeles is 14-26 ATS after playing a game as a home underdog over the last two years.  The Lakers are 5-11 ATS in their last 16 road games.  New Orleans is 4-0 ATS in its last four home games.  Bet the Pelicans Tuesday.

Oakland pulled off yet another late win last week as it scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to defeat Houston in Mexico City on Monday. Now the Raiders have to prepare on short rest against a team many think is done but because of the weakness of the division, Carolina is still very much alive in the playoff picture. Oakland leads the AFC West by a game over Kansas City and Denver and while this is a big game for them also, playing at home has not been a huge advantage where they are just 2-2 on the season. The Panthers escaped last Thursday against New Orleans as they had a comfortable 23-3 lead going into the fourth quarter against the Saints but allowed 17 points in the final frame to win by just three points. The good news is that they have had some extra time off and while it may seem hard to believe, this is the first time all season they are an underdog. This is actually the first time since Week Nine of last season they are getting points. We have a favorable situation going against Oakland as we play against home favorites that are averaging 4.5 or more rushing ypc, after being outrushed by 75 or more yards last game. This situation is 26-6 ATS (81.2 percent) over the last 10 seasons.
