Handicapping The Bowl Games! 88-52 62% last 4 years with a pick on EVERY bowl game!

Wanted to talk a little bit about the Bowl games this year.  Many of you have followed me for the past 19 years and know how hard I work on producing a profit for my clients.  Most of you know that I've become more selective here the past few years with all my picks.  It's all about winning for my clients.  Having said that several years ago I found that I did very well releasing a side pick on every bowl game on the board.  This is something that I normally would preach against as I'm all about selectivity and proper money management and playing every game is usually a crazy idea and will put you in the poor house.  However, the bowl games have been very profitable over the past 4 years releasing a side pick on EVERY single game on the board.  Overall my record stands at 88-54 62% last 4 years with a pick on every bowl game.  I don't think anybody can touch those numbers. 

Let's go into how I approach the bowl games.  First and foremost my own unique power ratings are what I mainly look at.  These have been updated all year.  Every week after the College Football games were over I would update my power ratings.  This is really how I get my College Football picks during the season as well and many of you know last year I cashed 66% in the CFB regular season.  I also look at 8 other sets of power ratings on each and every game and along with my own personal ratings I compare them with the numbers released by Las Vegas.  That's where I get my first edge from.  I also do trend analysis on every single game on the board.  Usually this don't take me off of a game but if it's a trend or trends that I feel is strong it could create a higher rating for that particular game I'm looking at.  I also will look at the returning starters and check my formula for each game using that method.  At this point in the season this won't take me off of a game but could make the play stronger. 

Usually post season plays in all sports are very rare for me these days with the exception of the bowl games.  If I see something I really, really like we will pound it much harder.  Most of these plays will be Dime plays.  First off, you need to set an amount you are going to play each game for and stick with it the entire bowl season.  What I'm saying is if I start off 5-0 and you only played $100 on those 5 games, don't play $1000 on the next game.  You need to stay consistent across the board.  You can raise your amount for a 2 dime or 3 dime play if we have any, but please stay CONSISTENT the entire bowl season!

Sit back, relax and hopefully we can all enjoy some more winners this year!  Keep in mind there is no such thing as a LOCK!  We should make a profit but things happen out of our control at times to cost us games.

Milwaukee is getting a little too much respect here off that big win over the Warriors on Saturday, as they greatly benefited from Golden State playing in their 7th straight road game in the 2nd game of a back-to-back set off a double-overtime game the previous night at Boston.
 
As bad as the Lakers have been, the Bucks are not a team that should be favored on the road against anyone right now. Milwaukee is a mere 2-10 away from home and have lost 9 straight on the road. Keep in mind last year the Bucks were a 6.5-point road favorite against Los Angeles and lost that game 93-101.
 
This will be just the second time the Lakers have played at home since Bryant announced his retirement. The first came way back on Nov. 29 against the Pacers and LA nearly handed a red-hot Indiana team a loss, losing by a final of just 103-107. I expect a very energetic home crowd the rest of the way for the Lakers, as fans will be eager to see Kobe play one last time.

The Saints put everything they had into last week’s home tilt with Carolina. It was a must win game and really their game of the year. After jumping out to a 14-0 win, New Orleans terrible defense continued to be terrible allowing the Panthers carve them up for 41 points and almost 500 total yards in a 3-point loss. We don’t see any way the Saints can bounce back this week after coming close “but no cigar” in their must win home game last Sunday. The Bucs continue to surprise with another win last week over Atlanta. They are now 6-6 with an outside shot at the playoffs. The Buccaneer offense has been surprisingly good behind rookie QB Jameis Winston averaging 370 YPG (9th in the NFL) on 5.8 YPP (7th in the NFL). They should have their way vs a Saint defense that ranks dead last in the NFL in those two defensive categories. New Orleans is just 1-5 on the road with their losses coming by margins of 33, 22, 18, and 5 points. Tampa already took their young team into New Orleans and won 26-19 and we see no reason they don’t do it again here. Lay the small number with Tampa. ASA is very selective with their GAME OF THE YEAR spots in the NFL. They've had only 3 this season and CASHED IN ON ALL 3! This Sunday they are set with their 10* AFC NORTH GAME OF THE YEAR in the epic match up between Pittsburgh & Cincinnati! Go get it and JUMP all over it!

Steelers are desperate for a win to keep up in the AFC and they are looking to revenge a 16-10 loss in Pittsburgh. Teams off back to back games in which they didn't give up 10 or more points are just 92-149 38% as long as they were not a dog of 3 or more points. Public is 50/50 on this game but we are seeing a shift from 3 down to 2.5. I just don’t see the Patriots losing 3 straight considering they just lost back-to-back games for the first time in more than 3 years. I know it doesn’t look good regardless of how you lose when you get beat at home by a team that had been outscored 31-90 in their previous 2 games, but that loss to the Eagles last week was a joke. Philadelphia scored 35-unanswered points after falling behind 14-0 and during this stretch had 3 straight non-offensive touchdowns. They had a blocked punt returned for a touchdown, a 99-yard interception return and 83-yard punt return. New England on the game outgained the Eagles by 179-yards and had 27 first downs to Philadelphia 15.
I know the Patriots have been hit hard with injuries of late and that has definitely played a role in their back-to-back losses, but it’s not like the offense can’t move the ball. New England had 433 yards on the road against an elite Denver defense and 427 yards last week against the Eagles. As good as the Texans have played defensively of late, I don’t see them keeping Brady and this offense in check.
The Texans also don’t have a great offense and will be going up against a really good New England defense. This is an offense that only scored 24 points against the Saints and that was with them scoring 14 in the 1st quarter. In New Orleans last 5 games they are the only team to not score at least 34 points against them. I’ll take my chances Brady and Belichick off back-to-back losses in a nationally televised game laying a field goal or less  every time.

This is a great price to back the Huskies at home against the the Horned Frogs. Washington's only two losses so far this season have come on a neutral floor against Gonzaga and Texas and the loss to the Longhorns came after the Huskies had already beat Texas earlier in the season. While the schedule hasn't been challenging at home, Washington is 3-0, winning by an average of just under 30.0 ppg.
I see a lot of value here only needing the Huskies to win by 6 against a TCU team that will be playing their first true road game of the season and it's no short trip either. The Horned Frogs have opened 4-3, but have yet to beat anyone note worthy. Their 4 victories have come against SE Louisiana, Houston Baptist, Illinois State and Colgate. 
It's going to be hard for TCU to keep this game competitive given the Huskies stingy play defensively. Washington is holding opponents to just 35.7% shooting from the field and just 27.3% from long-distance. They also figure to have a strong advantage on the boards. The Huskies come in averaging 48 rebounds/game, while TCU only averages 36. The Horned Frogs are just 28-48 ATS in last 76 against teams who allow a shooting percentage of 39% or worse and 63-92 ATS in their last 155 against teams who are outrebounding opponents by 4+ boards/game. 
It's also worth noting that TCU comes into this game off a 76-49 blowout win over Colgate, as the Horned Frogs are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 off a SU win by more than 20 points and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 after allowing less than 50 points. Huskies are 4-1-1 ATS last 6 vs Big 12 teams and 4-1 ATS last 5 at home. Take Washington!

I'm backing Oklahoma City on Tuesday night. Revenge opportunity for the Thunder and this time Kevin Durant will be on the floor. Memphis handed OKC a 122-114 loss in mid-November, a night when Durant was sidelined. OKC out-rebounded Memphis 44-34 and made 51% of their FGA. But they committed 19 turnovers and watched the Grizzlies score 43 points in the fourth quarter. Memphis also outscored OKC 36-22 at the FT line. Memphis has played better of late with a change in roster and in style of play, but still, for the season, the Grizzlies are in the bottom-third on both ends of the floor in offensive and defensive FG percentage, 3-point accuracy (both their own and allowed), and they have struggled at times on the glass. Back to KD. Since coming back from injury, he's averaging 27 ppg and 8 apg. Memphis has dropped each of their last four home games ATS and they have covered just 16 of their last 46 first half of the season home games. I'm backing Oklahoma City on Tuesday. Thanks & GL!
